Give us the elevator speech about your project (as in how would you describe your project to someone you meet in an elevator?):
The project I am currently working on is the development and implementation of an eight session management course customized to the needs of current and future leaders of the credit union. The course will focus on topics like emotional intelligence, managing an intergenerational workforce and building trust. I also plan to introduce 360 reviews and the opportunity for participants to work on their presentations skills and, ultimately, implement their leadership skills by working on a strategic initiative. There will also be a section presented by our finance and accounting team on finance topics, such as asset liability management, budgeting and understanding how managers can impact key financial ratios. This course will become part of the CMCU leadership and financial leadership development suite.
What is your long-term career goal?
My long-term career goal is to continue to be part of talent development at CMCU. With the growth we are experiencing, I am hoping the credit union will eventually become large enough to have a talent development department with multiple staff to focus on training and development needs for employees. I would love to lead this area and the services it provides to assist all employees in their learning and development.
Fill in the dots: The future of credit unions will be bright if ...
… they continue to build member loyalty through personalized service while utilizing technology to connect with members to provide the most convenient products and services to meet their needs.
What my generation brings to the credit union movement is …
… a demand for technologically-advanced solutions that allow for a convenient way to meet our banking needs. From an employee standpoint, my generation also brings creativity, flexibility and energy!
People consider me a leader because …
… I am willing to help and support organizational change initiatives. I also tend to have high energy and a positive attitude. :)
Who is your hero and why?
I consider my grandmother my hero. She is a strong woman who raised six children, all while maintaining the family farm and being the rock for the family. She is true example of how a positive attitude can pull you through even the toughest of times.
Who is a must-follow on Twitter? Ellen DeGeneres, @TheEllenShow
What is your favorite CUES member benefit? Or, if you are a new CUES member, what benefit are you most looking forward to using?
The CUES membership offers multiple ways keep updated on latest industry trends through conferences, webinars and articles. Additionally, having the NTCUE program is a great way to engage the next generation of leaders into the future of credit unions!
Online voters and a panel of past finalists narrowed the CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec field from 23 to the Top 10 applicants. The challenge, held in conjunction with DDJ Myers and powered by Currency, searches for emerging leaders age 35 and under from within the credit union industry. The Top 10 will blog about their project. And to provide additional value to the competition experience, they’ll each receive an executive coaching session from DDJ Myers, a CUESolutions provider for succession planning, executive recruitment and leadership coaching services. A judging panel of two CUES members and Deedee Myers of DDJ Myers will then score the Top 10’s applications and blog posts, narrowing the competition to five finalists. The five finalists will receive additional coaching, airfare, accommodation and registration to CUES’ CEO/Executive Team Network™, November 5-7, in Nashville, Tenn., where they will give their final presentations. The 2018 CUES Next Top Credit Union Exec will receive further coaching, airfare, accommodation and registration for two CUES’ CEO Institutes, a total prize package valued at $20,000. |
