Director of What? Wow.

NPR's Morning Edition reports that North Carolina's High Point University has appointed a director of "wow" to help make students happy. (Hat tip to Andy.) Initiatives for improving student life include valet parking,1143636258_d0f9cbd967_3  free snacks, ice cream trucks, a hot tub, and a concierge desk. Freshman enrollment has tripled.

Have the changes created a positive buzz about the university? You bet. Is it sustainable? Maybe. Does it set a high bar for every other organization trying to differentiate themselves through service? Without a doubt.

So many CUs say their member service makes the difference. Does it really? How does your CU compare to HPU?

[Interesting side note: When I searched for photos of student life at HPU on Flickr, I only found shots of a deserted campus and graduation. Buildings don't make buzz, HPU. Get a Flickr account going.]
