Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: CUES Congratulates Cheney

Everyone at CUES is singing the praises of Bill Cheney this week, excited about his upcoming role as president/CEO of CUNA.

CUES and Cheney, currently president/CEO of the California/Nevada Credit Union League, go way back, and all the stories are good.

We first knew him as an up-and-coming credit union executive, who quickly stepped into the top slot at then Xerox Federal Credit Union (which has locations here in Rochester, N.Y., near this telecommuter's home office, and is now called Xceed Financial.)

During his decade-long tenure at Xerox FCU, Cheney was a CUES member who demonstrated his dedication to learning. He tried to attend Execu/Summit every year. He attended DLI in London and earned his certified credit union director, or CCD, designation. (Notably, he was there during the 9/11 attacks.)

CUES has "enjoyed an excellent cooperative relationship with Bill and the California/Nevada Credit Union League who co-sponsor our Advanced Leadership Institute at Harvard Business School, which Bill attended in 2007," CUES Chairman Dale F. Schumacher, president/CEO of Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union, said yesterday.

And this blog post pictures Bill in Haiti just a few weeks ago, traveling with CUES President/CEO Fred Johnson and World Council of Credit Unions CEO Pete Crear.

Fred says Bill is a family man, who's as excited about his daughter's upcoming graduation from Yale as he is about credit unions.

"We look forward to working with Bill as we both seek to serve our members," Fred said.
