What brought 120 credit union directors to Vancouver, British Columbia, this week? Yes, they're all at CUES' Director Development Seminar but, more deeply, what do they hope to gain by being here?
This question was asked of seminar attendees right off the bat this morning by session leader Michael Daigneault, senior governance consultant with BoardSource, Washington, D.C. Here are their repsonses:

- Learn something
- More of a workshop format than conference; we can go deeper
- Learn about governance models
- To become an exceptional board
- Get resources/tools that will help my board
- Get validation that what we're doing is the right thing, that we're on the right path
- Discuss our CU model in light of the new economy
