'You've Got Chocolate in my Peanut Butter' aka This Partnership is GOOD

My birthday was last week… how convenient is it that I was born on International Credit Union Day? LaVonne Stodola, CUES' longest-tenured employee, brought in great peanut butter fudge brownies. The combination of the two flavors was amazing.

Amazing is what happens when two ingredients are better together than separate.

CUES is involved in three amazing collaborations. If the results can approach the impact of LaVonne’s brownies, the credit union movement will be better because of our efforts.

All the collaborations leverage CUES' professional development expertise with unique missions of our partners:

  • CUES is collaborating with the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions on CCCU and CUES International Convention, slated for June 23-26, 2012, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. CCCU represents 18 countries in the Caribbean, while CUES members come from 14 countries around the world. Together, we will provide an amazing opportunity for international networking and learning. Kudos to Ralph Wharton, the visionary leader of CCCU!
  • CUES is collaborating with the League of Southeastern Credit Unions to enhance education and training for Alabama and Florida credit unions. The partnership will provide credit union CEOs, executives and directors more robust LSCU educational offerings as well as new jointly branded and executed events. The first such event is for executives of credit unions $500 million in assets and up. Dubbed Credit Union Executive Dialogue, the meeting will be convenient for CEOs who attend CUES Symposium: A CEO/Chairman Exchange at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, Bonita Springs, Fla., because Credit Union Executive Dialogue will begin immediately after CUES Symposium at the same hotel. LSCU’s Patrick LaPine is a proponent of collaboration who has impressed me with his vision and commitment to collaboration in the best interests of LSCU and CUES members.
  • Earlier this year, CUES partnered with BVS to provide CUES/BVS Dynamic Learning to credit unions. BVS has been providing services to the financial industry for more than 35 years and was the first educational provider to deliver its learning product over the Internet to credit unions. BVS President Roy Karon is an entrepreneur who has a passion for education readily evident to anyone who has spent five minutes in his presence.

LaVonne had to take some time to bake the brownies, prepare the peanut butter layer, and add the final layer of fudge. Fortunately for me, eating it was a “piece of cake.”

I’m hoping CUES’ efforts to prepare the collaboration make learning a piece of cake for our members, along with the credit unions who are members of CCCU and LSCU!
