Casual vs. formal and other social media tips from The CUES Podcast Episode 18.

Your credit union brand’s personality and voice, like a person, can have more formal and more casual days, says Charlotte Boutz, director/client experience and social media strategist at CUES Supplier member Weber Marketing Group, Seattle, in Episode 18 of The CUES Podcast. For example, your credit union should take a formal approach to its annual report. It’s hard to imagine a credit union putting a smiling face emoticon in its annual report! But on your social media channels “you do get to have the more casual end of your spectrum.”

Creating content for social media is a challenge for most companies. “You have to feed the content beast!” Boutz laughs.

Too often, organizations have all the social channels, but they are not tending them well, she cautions. Instead of keeping social media in its own silo, integrate it into the rest of your content. Think about how your blog posts, newsletters and traditional advertising can all integrate together.

How does your credit union manage its social media content? Share in the comments. And tune in to Episode 18 for more tactical and strategic tips from Boutz.
