Remember Thrill Bill, the blog "variation" that Alternatives Federal Credit Union launched to help celebrate the retirement of longtime CEO Bill Myers?
Here's another great blog variation: Team Little Guy, a social media gathering spot for the 12 runners and two support staff who are competing in the 208-mile Blue Ridge Relay Race on Sept. 7 and 8. Team Little Guy will raise money for the Micro Community Grants program of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation.
Christopher Stevenson and I had already enjoyed reading the Team Little Guy blog before we got an e-mail from Jeff Hardin, director of communications at the North Carolina Credit Union League, filling us in on the background for this fun blog variation.
"The Team Little Guy blog is going to chronicle the running team," Jeff explains. "I’m hoping it’ll be a good way for our folks here in NC (including me) to learn more about social media and have fun watching the team get together on a social media site. (Some team members have never met before, and one guy lives in the Midwest.) It’ll also hopefully brand and promote the Little Guy and the Foundation."
