CRM System Doubles as Collections Support

Shred Day Best Practices

“If we don’t get the basic direction right, it doesn’t matter if we have the best accounting system in the world.”

Marketing to Women

On balance we agree 100 percent with the idea that women/moms are the CFO in many American households (“Inside Marketing: Reaching Women is Critical,”). But as with everything, it becomes a situation of time investment. A busy mom who is taking care of their kids, family, finances, changing a tire or riding a skateboard is not going to take time to read a CU blog. Members care about rates, service and that the app works. That’s it. Also, there is no mass market for credit unions. The U.S. has always been a regional confederation. Here in Texas we don’t mind seeing pictures of moms taking care of kids, because that is what they do. It might be different in Madison, Wis., or Seattle. If credit unions want to tap a true unexplored market, market to the churches where moms attend services and bible studies. More women read the bible than change tires or ride skateboards.

While the majority of women are moms, they also have many other identities. When you show her doing something unexpected, it grabs your attention. A great example is the Carnival cruise commercial “Mom Just Got Air.” She’s still a great mom, but she’s also having the time of her life on a jet ski. Women appreciate when you recognize they are multifaceted human beings.
